Ever since conflict struck, the depth of poverty has increased by 600%. Simultaneously, an unprecedented spike in food prices has been observed. The only other choice this leaves the Yemenis with—other than starving, of course, is scavenging wild or harmful foods.

Did you know only 15 percent of children eat the minimum acceptable diet needed for survival and development? While peace is the ultimate solution, until it is fully restored, conflict-stricken Yemen will continue to need our food baskets.

The reward of feeding the poor is immense, and the Qur’an tells us that the righteous “give food, out of love for Him, to the poor and the orphan and the captive, [saying] “We feed you, for Allah’s pleasure only—We desire from you neither reward nor thanks.” [76:5-12].

Just like we make our homes look beautiful by elegantly accessorizing them, we should also beautify our faith and its foundation by actively engaging in noble acts.

Abdullah bin Amr (ra) said, ’A man asked the Prophet, “What Islamic traits are the best?” The Prophet said, ”FEED THE PEOPLE, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know”’. [Bukhari]

On one occasion our Prophet (saw) said: ‘The best of you are THOSE WHO FEED OTHERS’. [Ahmad]

At first alone, then with a group of his medical colleagues. In 2019, he realized he could do much more with a registered charity and local office in Yemen and established Good Deed Charity.

By funding the administrative costs associated with running a charity through his own pockets and with the help of his colleagues, Good Deed Charity has remained a 100% Donation Policy charity, putting 100% of your donations to work on the ground.

Today, Good Deed Charity is one of only 2 charities in Europe that has a registered office in Yemen.
